HISTORY
A long time ago (before electricity) people used fans as a way to stay cool. Fans can also be used for decoration and entertainment purposes. Recreate a fan which may represent a specific culture or time period. For example try to design something with lace to go along with the Victorian era.
LANGUAGE ARTS
Sometimes fashionable ladies of days gone by would sit and socialize and sip tea on a hot summer day. Create a script for a play in which you could use the folding fans, and have fun creating a plot and writing dialogue.
SCIENCE
Talk about the weather. Would one be more likely to use a fan in humid weather or in dry desert regions. Research various environmental conditions and create fans for the areas in which they would be most effective.
